I dont' get paid very much to do this job, but it is a fun place to work. It's also the only steady job I've ever kept. As a disabled person that is very valuable to me.
I feel a lot of pride in this job. The trust that was given has been earned and I feel good knowing they can rely on me. I do my work very dependably. I even go in when I'm feeling fairly sick. One winter month I had to walk every night in extreme cold as my car was taken off the road for safety violations. But it feels so good to be able to say I have a job and a position. It feels good to give something back to my community.
I clean the place at night. Because most of the building is quite shabby I call it "damage control" rather than cleaning. I also take care of the lawn and gardens in summer. I think too that I do a little vibe magic when I'm in there, clearing up the mental residue of the working day.
